A special StrudelOk bakery has been operating in Myrhorod for three months now. Its owner, Maryna Shlyakhta, is a native of occupied Donetsk, where she still has her parents and home.
The family business started with a small pizza restaurant, but Marina always dreamed of a bakery, but had no money for equipment. Thanks to winning a grant from The course towards Independence from the Astarta-Kyiv agricultural holding, the Believe in Yourself Charitable Foundation, the German government - the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and the German Development Bank DEG, Maryna's dream has come true. Now she has equipment for working with dough, as well as a special oven and coffee machine, because fresh pastries taste so good with a fragrant drink.
"The course towards Independence gave me a second chance at life at the age of 46, so I could finally spread my wings," says Maryna Shlyakhta.
Every morning, at exactly 5 a.m., she gets up to make sure that the most needy and elderly people have fresh goodies. Marina and her husband help a local residential care home on a regular basis. She brings there not only delicious pastries, but also hugs that she cannot give to her own father yet.
We are sincerely proud of our Unbreakable and Independent, and we know for sure that with such people our Victory is close, because Ukrainians are strong!
